Update from the Canal and Rivers Trust on Denton Reservoir.
The Parish Council continues to be in contact with the Canal and Rivers Trust regarding Denton Reservoir and have received the following from them,:
"The good work done by the volunteers has not gone unnoticed and they regularly dip in and out of the watsapp group to keep tabs on the activity – which is ongoing but what a beautiful part of the world to do it in.
As for planned projects and to answer a couple of your points raised at your latest meeting;
We have recently taken delivery of new signage for the various access points around the reservoir. These will be installed by the local operations team before spring.
We have ordered a supply of temporary correx signs asking people to take litter home with them – we will keep these in storage and put them out onsite if required. we would be happy to supply the group with some of these signs and tie wraps to use, again if required, as we did with the “No Swimming” banners last year.
A new bench is due to be installed by contractors later this month, I’m awaiting confirmation of the date so we can arrange access to site. It will replace the fire damaged bench that is currently in place.
They will review the request for a bin onsite, and take the point that it symbolises our support of the group and should keep the litter contained in one place and will remain in touch to confirm the actions around installation of a bin onsite."
This is good news and shows the Trust and the Parish Council remain committed to ensuring Denton Reservoir and ist wildlife remain an asset for all to enjoy.
More importantly is the efforts by the volunteer group in maintaining the area and a huge thank you must go out from the Parish Council in regonition of what they are achieving.
